ok iam done hunting

Well I finally pulled the trigger and have some venison for the freezer. The day started off with deer coming in very early in the am milling around my tree stand until shooting light came and sadly I rushed the shot and missed a nice fat doe at 40yds, I know how the heck can you miss a chip shot like that but that’s why you go hunting for the stories, being with your buddies/family, and to harvest what you go after. I still hunted after the deer making sure I didn’t wound it, after following them for about 100yds; I knew where they were headed so I turned off the tracks and circled ahead of them. It took me about 45 minutes to get where I wanted to be and as luck would have it she crossed the logging road in front of me at about 120yds, now My Thompson Pro Hunter muzzle loader is sighted in at 150yds so this shot is well within the ability of the gun, but after missing earlier some doubt had creeped into my mind, so I got a good rest and squeezed off the shot, she bucked hard telling me the shot was good and after a short tracking job 35yds or so I found her Happy days!!!. Then I realized I was at the back end of the property and had one incredible long drag in front of me. It took over two hours of sweating and grunting and two oxygen tanks to get my prize back to the truck but it was worth every minute of it.

Thanks Jim

Jim,
Just want to thank you again for the time you spent showing me how to tie the crystal meth pattens yesterday( and for the dubbing twister). The wny flyfishing blog site is great also. I'm looking foward to the tying class in January. Maybe I'll see you on the Catt before then.

Fishing Report 11/1/08

The catt is flowing at 418cfs & slowly falling. The smaller/medium creeks are on the low and clear side, but have plenty of fish in all of them, try using egg patterns and nymphs.
