Wny Fly Fishing Report 10/29/09

The smaller tribs should be in good shape today falling as we speak and clearing. The mid size creeks are high and dirty, and the catt is out of the question at 1100 cfs and falling slowly. I wish i had better news for fishing but it has been one of those years.

Wny Fly Fishing Report 10/23/09

We will have to see what the rain gods have in store for us, as of now the smaller creeks are low and clear. The mid size creeks are the same with the Catt fishing well with good numbers of fish on the rez moving slowly thru. Lets watch the rains and hope they don't dump on us to much this weekend.

Wny Fly Fishing Report 10/18/09

All the creeks have fish in them and are colored, the catt has dirtied up again. Trying to find some good water will take some driving, but you will have fish in the creek. The flies of choice are as follows: Hairballs in peach, egg, golden, Sucker spawn in same colors (try putting diamond braid under the yarn) ESL black or purple with red or orange heads, Rainbow Runners and Mirrored Minnows round it out.

Wny Fly Fishing Report 10/11/09

I went to my cabin to get some work done before hunting season starts, and maybe do a little fall fishing. The genny was is very good shape for this time of year and the fall caddis were coming off very good, so i caught a few fish on usuall's with a hares ears as a dropper. I caught a mixture of browns and bows for only a few hours of fishing. I just want to say it's about time!!! After bitching to the DEC about the raping of the genny, they caught some poachers with way over their limit of trout, i hope they hammer them good.

Wny Fly Fishing Report 10/11/09

Most of the mid to smaller tribs have good numbers of fish in them and are spread out. The catt is still a little ways to go before you can go crazy on it.

Wny Fly Fishing Report 10/2/09

I went out to fish today in one of the erie tribs and found it low clear water with fish scattered in almost every pool that could hold fish. The fly of the day was a black stone size 8, slowly creepy it along the bottom. The fishing was slow with 3 hook ups and then the rain dumped on us and started to muddy things up abit, so we will see how much rain falls today for the weekend fishing.
