WNY Fly Fishing Inland Stream Report 4/29/2013

The Oatka was fishing very well this morning with lots of Henny's popping everywhere with an B.W.O. thrown into the mix. The fishing was very good until the rains came and then it was spotty, so I switched to a spring creek special and dredged up a few then went home.

WNY Fly Fishing Stream Report Inland 4/28/2013

The Genny was fishing very well this weekend with good bugs coming off, the water color was damn near perfect and the flows very good. The bugs coming off were stones most of the day and Hendrickson's in the later afternoon. The fished wets for most of the day and then switched over for the hatches. I had a new fly fisherman with me and Bill caught his first trout on the dry!!!!.

WNY Fly Fishing Stream Report 4/21/2013

Jeff and I went inland today and found crowds for almost  all of the streams we tried to go to. The streams were in good shape to awful, we did find one that was in great shape and no other fisherman on it. The fish were caught on spring creek specials and nothing else.

The smallest streams were fishable today and held a few fish, the fish were caught on cheese colored sucker spawn. The suckers are in big time now so be prepared to hook a lot of the Lake Erie bonefish.

WNY Fly Fishing Stream Report 4/8/2013

I went back to the Oatka today as the powers that be, decided that we only need 4 days to work instead of 5. The water looks great and the temps were a little cold, but the fish were looking up sporadically as the midges and stone flies started to pop, I caught fish on spring creek specials, stone flies and P.T.'s.

WNY Fly Fishing Equipment Review - Sage ESN

Well I finally got the 10' 3WT in my hands and what a rod!!!  It's a joy to cast and looks good also, the rod casts very well and is a joy to high stick. I bought this rod for nymphing (which it's designed for) and deep wading for throwing dries on the Genny.  I had no problem throwing two flies with shot and a Indy today on the Oatka, everything I caught was on stoneflies. I you are thinking about getting one of these rods go see Phil at Colville's Outfitters and jump on it right away!!!!!!
