WNY Fly Fishing Trout Camps

Trout Camps are in the spring for inland trout. The classes are six hours and cover casting, fly selection, and reading the water. We provide lunch, guides, flies/leaders/tippet, rods and reels if needed, you must bring waders and wading boots, sunglasses. This is the best way to start out fly fishing and learn from some of the best instructors in WNY.

Cost is $250.00 per person $350.00 per two

Mud, Mud and more Mud that's all I saw today on every Erie trib. I don't have any info on the L.O. tribs as of yet, so make your choice a good one.

WNY Fly Fishing Stream Report 3/25/2014

Most of the Erie tribs I saw today were low and clear with some shelf ice still on them, the bigger ones were off colored and had good flows and the catt is still brown, but is coming around.

WNY Fly Fishing Stream Report 3/18/2014

The Erie tribs I went over today were a mixture of very good to all out muddy, the smallest were green and had some slush, while the biggest one was muddy, but getting better. We will have to see what's in store for the weekend with rain and snow coming our way.

WNY Fly Fishing Stream Report 3/9/2014

Justin and I went to fish  Oak orchard today, the weather was bitter cold and the fishing much slower than the past two days. The fish were taking very small egg patterns size 12 and muted colors.

WNY Fly Fishing - The Four Main Trout Insects

 Mayflies (Ephemeroptera) - Upright wings in adult hood, tails sweeping back and up, curved bodies. They are very graceful in flight and are very delicate. Sizes for most 10 - 18
 Stoneflies (Plecoptera) - Wings folded over back, two short tails, most have antennae, very slow and clumsy in flight. Sizes for most 12 - 16
 Caddisflies (Trichoptera) - Adults have wings in the shape of a tent when folded, very difficult to catch and identify. Sizes for most 14 - 18
Midges (Diptera) - Tiny flies that look like mosquitoes, but cannot bite you. Sizes for most 20 - 24

The Catt has open water in Gowanda, just be careful about some of the shelf ice. The smaller tribs are frozen solid to having some open stretches.
