Wny Fly Fishing Report 8/30/09

I fished the upper catt today and was rewarded with some very nice fish. The water was in great shape up and cool. I used the spring creek special with a pink san juan worm as my second fly, working each section slowly i caught fish all morning. The rainbows jumped completely out of the water and the browns hit solidly, great fun on my 9' 3wt Sage Z-Axis.

Wny Fly Fishing Report 8/17/09

The hot weather has finally come and some thought should go to our cold water friends, please be careful about the stream temps and stressing the fish. Any water temps in the high 60's should be avoided. Fish early if you must and get out before the water starts to get too warm.

Wny Fly Fishing Report 8/10/09

The Genny was fishing very good until the sky opened up on us and dropped a ton of rain. We had lots of fish rising taking dries and a few fish caught on stone fly nymphs. A few streams will be fish able today, but by mid week everything should be back to business.

Wny Fly Fishing Report 8/2/09

Paul and i went out to the Oatka to do a little fishing. There was not much in bugs so we had to nymph the day away. We walked down the stream and i spotted a funky fish sitting near the shoreline, with a quick change of flies and a few casts i landed him, what a battle on my 3wt and 6X tippet. Later i switched to golden stones and that proved to be the ticket for the rest of the day. On the way out we spotted this fish killer working a riffle.
