Wny Fly Fishing Report 10/11/09

I went to my cabin to get some work done before hunting season starts, and maybe do a little fall fishing. The genny was is very good shape for this time of year and the fall caddis were coming off very good, so i caught a few fish on usuall's with a hares ears as a dropper. I caught a mixture of browns and bows for only a few hours of fishing. I just want to say it's about time!!! After bitching to the DEC about the raping of the genny, they caught some poachers with way over their limit of trout, i hope they hammer them good.

  1. Nice! I didnt realize you could still get fish on flies this time of year in the Genny!Did you get them in the CnR section? Im also glad to hear that the DEC busted people for taking to many fish! I fished a small trib Saturday and watched 4 guys from Ohio rip Browns like it was going out of style. When I told them it was Illegal they caught an attitude and tried to scare me away cuz there was 4 of them and only 1 of me!So I called the DEC tip line to try to turn these guys in but got put on hold for 10 minutes, finally I hung up and gave up! I did manage 2 nice browns on bead head nymphs and the same guys that were snagging seemed to get interested in catching them legally! 1 guy even said to me." They really bite?" LOL! I told them, They will bite if you give them a chance! All in all it was a decent day but I was reminded why I dont fish the tribs on weekends!

  2. i caught fish throughout the river from shongo to jack bridge and every spot in between. Getting them on top was a bonus with the colder weather we had.
