WNY Fly Fishing Stream Report 11/27/2012

After driving all over the southern tier today and looking at the conditions of the creeks, all I can say is it will be a long and fruitless winter unless we get water and it sticks around not just gush and flush. The smaller erie tribs need water badly, the catt looks great, but from Gownada to RT 5, I saw only two cars parked at the usual spots and below RT 5 nobody fishing at all!!!!

WNY Fly Fishing Stream Report 11/15/2012

I drive over almost of the Erie tribs everyday for work so I can get a birds eye view of them, here is what I saw today, the smallest ones were low and clear, the med sized ones were slightly stained to clear, and the catt should be ready by the weekend, although you can fish it now as I saw a bunch of fisherman today on the water.

WNY Fly Fishing Stream Report 11/12/2012

Jeff and I hit the catt today, despite the crazy high winds. We started in the middle of the rez and found good numbers of fish rolling, jumping and moving about. I managed two chrome silver steelhead, swinging a White Lighting streamer tied Clouser style. The viz was a little clouded with about 18" viz, nice flows and temps.

WNY Fly Fishing Stream Report 11/8/2012

BRRRRRRRRRR!!!!! 19 degrees this morning, the water was very cold and with about 18" of viz on the catt. The fishing was slow until around 10 then it picked up nicely with the bait guys catching most of the fish while the feather throwers catching a few. The fish i caught were on a olive and white double bunny streamer swung slowly and stripped. The fishing will pick up when the water temps go up.

WNY Fly Fishing - Simms Day at Colville Outfitters

I want to give a special thanks to Justin Sterner from Simms and Dan Colville for the Simms dealer Day at the shop. It was very nice to see all of the old gang and new faces that will soon become fishing buddies. The new product that Simms has out now is out of this world!!! and the new stuff we will see in the very near future is a home run. The pizza and refreshments as always a bonus, the shop looks great and is fully stocked, stop in and say hi and see the new Sage One rods or the Ross F1 reels, and the new Simms lineup.

I met up with Guide Jesse Hollenback to do so tribbing L.O. style, the creeks were off colored but very fishable. The zombies are almost gone and the browns and steelhead have moved in to feast on our offerings. The hot ticket for today was a very bright orange single egg or hairball, the steelhead were on the smaller size, but the browns large and in charge.
