WNY Fly Fishing Stream Report 11/12/2018

 Jeff and a buddy went out today and gave me this report, the Erie tribs have very good numbers of fish in them and he water was slightly off colored due to the run off from the melting snow.  They got out in the afternoon to avoid the morning crowds and cold temps. Jeff told me there was a lot of foot traffic on the streams,  they walked away and had sections to themselves. They caught the fish on chart  and peach sucker spawn and even got a bonus lake run brown to boot. Once again thanks for the report

I met Tom down on the catt today to watch him catch some fish and take pics. The weather was perfect and the fishing not so, the fish seemed off and proved very selective, but he did manage a few on nymphs, sorry no pics

Paul met me down at my place and he had a day of days fishing, me on the bank taking pics is getting old, but at least I get to see the fish and my buddies getting some very nice ones. The water was up a little and the clarity was just about perfect. The hatches were good with stones, BWO's and henny's coming off, we saw some rises late in the day, but all of Paul's fish were caught on nymph's and buggers.

 Myself and Bill were driving home from my cabin and came across hatchery trucks putting truck put fish in at rt 16 and Belmont and the parking lots were full of guys going right after them, what a shame. The stocking should be done with no notification to the public, the first two weeks of the season should be delayed harvest just like PA, and we should have to buy a trout stamp

Ok the creeks are on the rise again, maybe by this weekend you will be out on the water. The creeks will be very busy with all the kids out of school and everybody back home, so get up extra early and stand in the dark to get your spot.

Wide spread blowout on all streams in WNY, the smaller ones will come down first in a day or two the Catt will take longer. Watch the gauges and choose wisely otherwise you will be driving all over the place to find water, I'll keep up the posts as I hear the conditions  from the guys

No real changes on the Catt, it is fishing very well. The med to smaller tribs are low and clear with fish in them.

The creeks are on the rise with this storm coming in, the smaller creeks need it. The catt was fishing very well according to all the reports I have been getting. We will have to see what it does to the fishing.

The cooler temps and the rainfall we are getting now will bring in fish into the tribs, I have had reports of fish in 18 mile Hamburg down low in the system and already in decent numbers, the catt has had fish in it for awhile now, and ill let you know about the other tribs very soon

Jeff and a buddy went out this weekend to find some new spots and enjoy the day, so here is what they gave me. The water was slightly stained and up a little, the fishing was good with all of the fish they caught were on olive buggers swung down and across. They did say that the bugs were coming off all day with caddis leading the charge.

The Catt is the only game in town and the numbers of guys out on the water prove it, the fishing has been good with jacks and some adults mixed in. the weather has been very good with much needed rain falling, just enough to color the water and raise it slightly, you will have to move and find deeper water to find fish.
